I just make sure to have a secondary, non-explosive rifle (I'm using Last Minute) in handy for these scenarios. The world of Fallout 4 is harsh and full of the unknown. But so far in about 20 levels I've only had this issue once. I'm playing on survival and it was really annoying when one time I had to reload a save after shooting a raider and accidentally hitting one of diamond city's eyebots w/ the splash damage, aggroing all of the guards and the city as a result. The only downside to it is I have to be careful when there are friendly NPCs around, particularly near diamond city. Also it uses one of the most common ammo types in the game (.45) so ammo is essentially never an issue. I sorta wish they made this gun really expensive, just cuz it would give you motivation to grind a bunch of caps, and it just feels cheap having a weapon this OP for basically pennies. It's kinda ridiculous how cheap they made this, I think I got it for under 500 caps w/ grape mentats. This gun is better than any 2 shot rifle I've had (and I've had just about all of them thru vendors/legendary drops), and feels stronger than the explosive combat rifle I got on the same playthrough. No more annoying things with enemies peaking and ducking behind cover, you just shoot anywhere in the vicinity and they die. You literally just aim at the ground and shoot, and all of your enemies will lose their legs/other limbs, rendering them immobile, or they'll just die.

You'd think that the radiation dmg would be counterintuitive against ghouls + creatures as they heal from radiation, but it really doesn't matter cuz the explosives do so much damage. It's pretty crazy how much work this weapon does. Nuclear physicist for this weapon isn't all that helpful b/c the radiation dmg is only relevant against human enemies but the 2x dmg boost from demolition expert really puts this weapon over the edge. Got this weapon w/ maxed demolition expert and nuclear physicist (I already had the latter because I'm using a power armor build).
